365 Questions--March 1
If you could have a celebrity sibling who would it be?
Had I been asked this question maybe 3 months ago, I would've said K. Michelle without a second though. I still love K. Michelle, but my answer is going to have to be KiKi Sheard. I'm not going to lie, I don't listen to a lot of her music, but it's nothing against her. I'm just not one to sit down and listen to gospel albums. I'm a gospel Pandora listener. Anyway, I came across KiKi's Youtube channel recent and it just captured me. She's what I imagine myself to be like when I get older. Even though she's been raised in the church her whole life, she's still very much down to Earth. I feel like I could learn a lot from her.
Just watching her Youtube channel. She seems like a very happy-go-lucky type of girl, but she also has a lot of wisdom. There was one particular video she posted with her mom. It had me feeling some type of way. I don't have the best relationship with my mom. It's not a secret. But I left comment saying that her mom and I had been through. I left the comment: This video really broke my heart. Not because of anything you did wrong, but because of the memories it brought up. I went through a similar situation as your mom in my first pregnancy. I wish I had a relationship like y’all with my mom. I never thought that KiKi would ever respond, but she said :Briana Brown i hope it doesn’t keep you in that hurting space. I hope the video inspired you to keep loving and to try again. God is able to heal and provide! The type of words an older sister would say to her little sister if she saw her hurting.
Then to watch her in ministry. She gives her all. If that means taking her shoes off and singing barefoot, she does it. If that means getting on her knees, she'll do it. She even sings when she doesn't have "much of a voice." It's inspiring to see how much she doesn't care. I wish I was like that. You can tell she carries the joy of the Lord with her. I wish she could mentor me or something. Maybe I'll apply for her program.
Who said that I, can't dream bigger
And have Christ, that comes with swagger
Not of the world, but yet I'm in it
Sick of the boxes that they try to put us in
There's more to it going places
But I'm far from the basic
Traditions, its more about relation and where my heart
Stands with God.
