Love of Self

Ephesians 5:29 New International Version (NIV)

29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church—

For the month known to be the month of love, I chose to speak on self-love first. This tends to be the most neglected area. As people, we live life a mile a minute, and let ourselves fall to the way side. Some of us have been full blown storms in our lives, and we made it through, but sometimes we forget who we are or we fear that something like that may happen again. We are simply trying to survive.  In that, we add all this extra weight and extra baggage, and we lose self-care. We are just in place of "if only I can get through today." But we have to be mindful of who is more than able to care for us and handle all of our life battle. We try to carry all of these burdens, but we have to love ourselves enough to hand it to God and leave it alone.

Matthew 11:29-30 New International Version (NIV)

29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

You have to be willing to hand it to Him, or else that thing can destroy you. It can make you forget who you are. We are the descendants of the most powerful, all might King. He created us. He knew that we were gonna make the mistakes that we keep try to carry with us mentally every day. We constantly beat ourselves over the head with the "How could you do that? Don't nobody want nobody that's gonna do stuff like that." That's not love and it's not of God. God knew who we were before he formed us in our mother's womb. He knew we were going to do that exact same thing that we beat ourselves up for, but He still loves us. Why can't we love us. He forgives us, so we must forgive ourselves.

I made a mistake and it seems as if my love ones disappeared
I feel and wondered if you were still here
The names, the shame, this game of life is too heavy
So I cast all my cares on you
Cause right now your all I have
Jesus you loved me
When nobody cared
You loved me
