Let's Talk Saturdays--Love is a Joke

In this day and age, love just doesn't seem to be as common anymore. Every time you look in the blogs, this person is getting divorced, that person is getting divorced. Divorce is not always a bad thing, but divorce in itself is becoming more common. Not only that, there are not very many positive images or representation of love. Everything is a joke. Think I'm lying? Let's take the Love and Hip Hop franchise. It's entertaining, but the message it sends in the love department is a little questionable.

One of the biggest breakout stars from the franchise is Cardi B. I looooooove Cardi B. She's not too Hollywood, she's just a regular girl from the Bronx. If you remember when she first started the show, she was dealing with a guy in prison. She was very loyal to him as she is in many of relationships and friendships. She's now engaged to Offset from The Migos. There's been a lot of scandal surrounding this. There's stories of how he's cheated on her, and there's all these videos. She's still loyal. In fact there was a video she posted on either Instagram or Snapchat. I can't remember which one it was, but pretty much she was just saying all men cheat and she might as well stay with the man she has. For the life of me, I was just so....at a loss of words. She's too young to give up life that. Me and her are the same age!! It's not even the fact that he cheated. It's the fact that he put her in a position where she had to find out about it through social media. If he loves her, especially to the point where he thinks he wants to marry her, he shouldn't put her in that situation. There is no reason she should have to settle for that. There is somewhere out there who is ready to accept the loyalty she has to offer and respect her enough to not put her in situations like that at all.

Next up is Shay Johnson. Now I'm just going to get this out the way. VH1 has thrived off of making her look absolutely stupid on television time and time again. First it was Flavor of Love, and then it was being Scrappy's sidekick on L&HH Atlanta, and now this craziness on L&HH Miami. She's not ready for love, if you ask me. The way she throws past relationships in people's faces is very immature and disrespectful. You can expect to have a successful relationship with someone regardless of if you are just doing the absolute most. For one, she is acting a plum fool for no legitimate reason and two, you're comparing your current relationship to past relationships. If that past relationship did not work and you've supposedly moved in, there is no reason to say anything remotely close to "so and so treated me better than you treating me." If that's the case, go be with that person. However, in her defense, Pleasure should have never allow the situation with Gabby to get to where it got. He should have let both of them know what was going on instead of having both of them look stupid on national television.

On to the king of making people look stupid, Peter Gunz. He is the most blatantly disrespectful man I've seen on the entire franchise. It's unfortunate that so many people have gotten mixed in with him. This entire situation just irritates me. I don't blame the women at all. Wait..I take that back. I do blame Tara for continuing to deal with Peter in a sexual way after discovering he was married. There is no way you can prosper from that! Regardless of the fact that they have children together, this man left you after umpteen years and married another woman. He does not love you, sweetheart. For her, it seems that her love language is words. He tells her that he loves her but he does otherwise. Those words shouldn't mean anything else anymore, but I won't get on her too bad. We've all played the fool for somebody.

This is what I mean when I say there's almost no hope for this generation. There is a very clear double standard portrayed through media, but that's a discussion for a different day. Situations like those listed are so common, it's like it's being accepted as the new normal. But y'all....it really does not have to be like this. There are sensible people in this world.
