Let's Talk Saturdays--I Got My Own
Okay so Growing Up Hip Hop Season 2 premiered on Thursday. I don't dislike the show. I'm just not Beyoncé stan-ing over it. It's a decent show. One of the main reasons I don't care for the show is because I don't like Reginae. She comes off entirely too cocky for my liking. But you do have to consider who her parents are. She did not always have a silver spoon in her mouth, but she has for the majority of her life. Everything she has is because of her parents, and that's not a bad anything. She's' a child. Everything she has is supposed to come from her parents. It's not her fault. But just because you're spoiled doesn't mean you have to have a bad attitude. She pops off at the mouth way too much to wanna holler "Mama" or "Daddy" when she gets backed in a corner that she put herself in. In my opinion, she is just comes off way too entitled for someone who doesn't have their own anything. The whole reason she's on the show is because of who her parents are, not because of who she is. She's still getting paid for the show.
I guess the question is if everything was handed to you like it has been for many of the cast members of the show, would you still work for your own? Would you still want your own legacy? Everybody is different. It makes life a lot easier when everything is handed to you, depending on who it comes from. Personally, I wouldn't take full advantage of that, and that might be why I'm in the situation I'm in now. I moved home almost 2 years ago, and I should have been using my parent's connections to get a better job, but I didn't. I never wanted to put myself in a position where somebody could hang something over my head or throw it in my face. I've always been that way. I want to do things and learn things on my own. It takes a lot for me to help from someone. I can remember being in college and not having money to eat. Instead of calling my parents and just asking for help, I starved. Call me stubborn, but that's just who I am.
Honestly, my favorite cast member is Zonnique. That sounds bad because her and Reginae are close. The difference between them though is their personalities. Zonnique is much more laid back and even though her mom and stepdad have made quite the name for themselves, she's working on her own thing and making her own name. Don't get it twisted. I don't hate Reginae. I just don't think she knows how to stay in a child's place sometimes. But she's not just living on her parents anymore. She's in school trying to make her own.

"She got her own thing
That's why I love her
Miss independent
Won't you come and spend a little time"
