Can People Change?

I looked at this question and it made me laugh a little. The reason it's funny to me is because we all have had that experience where an ex tries to come back into the picture and they swear up and down until they're blue in the face that they've changed (chile bye🙄). Of course, ain't nothing change but the day on the calendar. Same 💩, different toilet if you will. I've dealt with this situation sooooo many times. That is why I kind of don't think people can change, well at least not on their own.

Listen, I know people can change. I've changed to some extent. Am I completely different person? No. At the core of me, I am still the same person. I'm still silly, outspoken, a little rambunctious when provoked. I've just gotten a little wiser over the years. I won't set it off every time 😂😂. However, I know that change was not because of my own doing. It was God. I had to line up with His will for my life so that I could grow or change in other areas. Yes I know God can restore, renew and all of that, but if someone does not have a relationship with Him, how is He going to or why would He do that??

I know personally when I wanted my circumstances to change, I was in a place of desperation. I remember laying on the floor crying and snotting all over the place. I literally could not take it anymore. I would've done anything for SOMETHING to change. A lot of times, that's what it takes for people to change. That rock bottom experience may be necessary. Actually, it is completely necessary. Hitting rock bottom doesn't mean they lose everything they have or something that drastic. Sometimes rock bottom is a mental state. Regardless, if things have gotten that bad, he or she will do whatever it takes for things to change. Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I can't go on living my life the same way and expect and drastic change in my circumstances. It doesn't work like that. Things will remain that bad because I keep doing the same thing.

BUT if things aren't that bad, why would they change? If it ain't broke don't fix it. Some people simply don't change because they like the way things are going. Everything is working out for them. They don't really have any motivation to change.
