365 Questions--January 16
A challenge you've had to overcome
For me to only be 25, I've been through quite a bit. I had to grow up very quickly due to the lifestyle I was living. It wasn't meant for someone that was 12 or 13 years old. Because I was so grown I was learning lessons at 15 and 16 that I really should've really been learning now at 25. Interesting fact about me---I'm extremely hardheaded. I'm the type of person that someone tells me the stove is hot, I don't care what they say. I have to find out on my own. Growing up, I was always taught to be selfless no matter what, and I did that. No matter how people treat me, I will almost always give them the shirt off my back if they needed it. Now that I'm older, my heart is hardened to some people. Just in general, I take putting others first to the extreme. That's something I have had to learn fix over and over. There's been times where I've put my physical safety, my life, everything I've worked for on the line for people who most definitely wouldn't do the same for me. It wasn't once or twice. I told myself that how people treated me should not affect how I treat them. Now that I'm older I see that does not work. Yes the Bible says love thy neighbor as thyself, but it also says above all guard your heart. Which one comes first? I haven't quite figured that out yet.
And her name is me
And she loves me more than you'll ever know
And I finally see that loving you and loving me just don't seem to work at all
