A song that is a cover by another artist
So one of my absolute favorite covers is "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room," by Durand Bernard.
First of all, if you've never listened to his mixtape Alcohol Harmony--dooooooo it!! There are so many covers on that mixtape, but "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by far is my favorite song on the project. The song is originally by John Mayer. To be honest, the original song doesn't do much for me. The lyrics are beautiful, but the execution is just not that great. Durand took the song and made his own arrangement that more appropriately express the lyrics.
As for the gospel portion, I would have to say "Rain on Us." I'm not sure which version came out first, but there is a Sha Simpson or Earnest Pugh. Either way, Earnest Pugh's version is my absolute favorite. Don't get me wrong, Sha Simpson's version is beautiful. I actually danced to that version years ago. There's just something about Earnest Pugh's voice. That man there couldn't deny the anointing on his life if he wanted to. That song is just so, so beautiful.
